Benefits of Acupuncture

Picture
Acupuncture and other modalities of Chinese medicine are very popular therapies for a multitude of conditions. Chinese Medicine recognises human body as an integrated, interdependent system, treating the person as a whole, not just as a disease. Acupuncture is often used as a preventative medicine. Many people see their acupuncturist only 2-4 times a year for a "tune up" or "balancing" treatment. This can prevent disease and promote health, energy and vitality.

The most common ailments presented to an acupuncturist are:
anxiety, arthritis, back pain, neck and shoulder pain, migraines, sciatica, trigeminal neuralgia, fertility issues.

British Acupuncture Council provides research fact sheets about the effect of acupuncture on various conditions.

Treatment

Acupuncture is based on applying very fine pre-sterilised disposable needles into specific acu points on the body to achieve curative effects and to maintain health.

Your first session will take over an hour, as detailed Chinese diagnosis, including examination of your tongue and pulse will be taken. The needles are left in the body between 10 - 30 minutes dependent on the condition treated. It is recommended to have a course of 5-10 treatments but it depends on your condition.

Most people find the treatment surprisingly pleasant and relaxing. You may feel pulling, dull ache or heavy sensation but never unpleasant pain.

The treatment is performed under very strict hygienic and safety conditions.

Electroacupuncture

Electro acupuncture promotes body's own healing processes by encouraging delivery of nutrients to traumatised tissues, removing any inflammatory chemicals irritating the tissue. It stimulates muscles and nerves and circulation of essential substances.
Electro acupuncture is based on stimulating of acupuncture points with a very mild electric current via needles. It is mainly used for acute and chronic pain conditions, muscular tension, overuse injuries, pain resulted from trauma, strain or sprain, chronic spasm, nerve damage and others.
Sona would advise you on your first session if this is the right treatment for you.

Facial Enhancement Acupuncture improves the elasticity of the skin and general overall appearance by stimulating facial muscles and encouraging production of collagen. The results that can be most expected by facial acupuncture is smoothing of the skin and reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. As this treatment is holistic, improvement in your overall wellbeing will also be achieved.

During your first Consultation Session (max. 90 min), Sona will discuss with you what areas you would like to improve, she will ask questions about your health and will perform Tongue and Pulse diagnosis. It is also recommended to have a Detox Auricular Acupuncture prior to starting the course of treatments.

During the treatment, specific acupuncture points on the body are also used, which will improve your overall wellbeing. The treatment is finished with an application of a rehydration serum, containing hyaluronic acid to enhance the treatment.
